Born to be nobody. Destined to be king. Doomed to be a villain.

What matters? Loyalty matters. Loyalty Binds Me.

Loyalty

Artist Hans Holbein receives a summons to the home of Sir Thomas More for the commission of his lifetime, but he will leave with a secret that puts his very life at risk. What he will learn is the truth about the life of King Richard III, from his return from exile with his brother, King Edward IV, through his rise to become the king's most powerful subject. From his flourishing personal life to his seizure of the throne. The unfashionable truth about the man the Tudor dynasty has worked tirelessly to vilify will be as nothing compared to the reason for it, as Holbein will discover.

He is about to be asked to hide the greatest secret in England.

A secret that could tear the fragile Tudor regime apart at its seams.

Richard is depicted as a 'real' person on the historical stage, and also likeable without being too attractive - he has flaws which are all too evident. His relationship with Anne & his family/friends are skillfully and empathically drawn. But it is a good read - a page turner, bringing the events to life.

An exciting read giving a comprehensive overview of events of Richard III's short adult life, with rounded characters and lots of detail. Matthew is a brilliant writer, bringing those brutal times alive to the reader - sometimes too alive, the battle scenes are vividly described, and must have been truly horrific to be part of !

This is not only a great read it is based on historical fact! I almost did not read it because I have read numerous books on King Richard III and didn't want to re-read the same information. I was presented with information completely different than any previous!
